Google Map: Instructions for adding alumni owned businesses
How to add your business on the Google Map of Cornell Alumni Businesses
1. If your business is not already on Google Maps in general, click here to add it.
Just because your business comes up in Google searches doesn't mean you're listed in their Maps
You will need to have a Google user account. You can set up a user account by creating a free Gmail account at www.gmail.com.You will receive confirmation from Google.
2. When you are logged into your Gmail account, click on the Cornell Alumni Businesses Map link, click on Save to My Maps to add this map to your Google user account.
DO NOT click the "edit" button at the top of the screen - this edits the title of the map (it may happen automatically, so just make sure it's listed under "my maps")
3. To add your business, you must search for the address and then when you see your business name, click on it and click "save to..." --> Cornell Alumni Businesses
4. Once your business is added, you can click on your business listing in the Edit mode, and can add text and other information to your listing. Please provide your name, the year you graduated and a brief summary of your business (it's not always obvious from the name). Please feel free to also add other information you wish to share with your fellow alumni. When done, click OK to update your listing. You should also click the "Done" button at the top of the map to make sure your edits are saved to the map.
